Welcome to another edition of VP Land.
SIGGARPH is in full swing and we’ve got a lot of exciting news to bring you over the next few days.
But brace yourselves…there’s a lot of NVIDIA news.

AI Goes 3 Dimensional.
NVIDIA’s Picasso powering new tools in Maya and Shutterstock
The big one: integrating generative AI
We’re integrating generative AI services developed using NVIDIA Picasso, a foundry for building generative AI models, into Maya. As a first step, we’ll work toward responsibly and ethically integrating AI into 3D content creation for characters and worlds. The ability to dynamically generate textures, materials and high dynamic range images directly into LookdevX in Maya will enable dramatically faster look development and scene lighting workflows.
Focusing on AI helping, not replacing artists is a common thread in these updates.
Yesterday we covered Unity’s new WētāTools, which hinted that AI was coming (and called it “assisted artistry”) but offered far less detail than Autodesk just did.
They also announced a partnership with Wonder Dynamics, creator of Wonder Studio, which automatically animates and composes CG characters into live-action scenes.

The input: simple text or image prompt
The output: 360-degree, 8K HDRi environment maps.
Again - AI is here to help, not replace you!
We’re committed to hyper-enabling 3D artists and collaborators — helping them build the immersive environments they envision faster than ever before and streamlining their content-creation workflows using NVIDIA Picasso

360 background generation isn’t new. Blockade Labs has Skybox AI, which takes generation a step further by allowing you to sketch out the layout of the space you want before generating.

Puget Systems launches computers to train your own AI models
The system runs up to four NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada graphics cards. For speed tests and to join the waitlist, head over here.
Puget builds high-end systems customized for specific tasks (video editing, 3D modeling, engineering, etc), so its no surprise they built an LLM machine.
We talked a bit about how the hardware needs of the future might change for running generative AI to create videos.
